Statement
In my current work I am exploring containment and volume, and investigating light and surface pattern. I want to create complex forms, which can engage on an artistic level, but retain some reference to function. I am particularly attracted to groupings of objects . Relationships between forms can be used as a metaphor for the exploration of social constructs, human interaction, and symbiotic relationships evident in nature.
Physical connection with technique and material is very important to me; allowing the behavior of the metal and the making process to play a role in dictating the outcome of a piece. Forms can vary as they are constructed, unexpected results can be incorporated into the design, and subtle flaws created.
I hope to convey a feeling of metamorphism; transition from one scale to another; the objects belong together but are merely working on altered perspectives, like structures in a landscape or a cityscape.
