Statement
My designs are predominantly informed by an interest in landscape and garden design, in particular the use of formal and informal structuring within a garden. I abstract ideas regarding the use of structure, composition, space, proportion and boundaries, and explore how these elements can be used to control and support nature within the garden, or, to support foods and plants within the domestic environment. I am also interested in the emotional implications offered by the use of boundaries within design.
I work mainly in silver, often combining precious metal with traditionally structural materials such as wood or concrete, for both practical and aesthetic reasons. I often produce objects that are intended to be used or displayed collectively, and enjoy the way the structure of one object can inform, or in turn be informed by, the shape or composition of the objects or environment around it.
By taking my influence from the way gardens are framed and arranged, supported and controlled, I aim to create unique and desirable objects that combine function and display in equal measure.
