In my work I am exploring the thrown vessel. Raw glazed when born dry and once-fired to achieve an intermingling of glaze and clay body. The aim is to express the moment of spontaneity of the material and of the time. The work is influenced on many levels by Asian and European traditions of ceramic making. The emotions simple but overwhelmingly strong have governed my work. Through making I am expressing a range of emotional extremes and jumbled feelings mixed with personal struggles some of the work evoked sweet and distant memories never meant to be forgotten Some are derived from the haunted moments that one is unable to escape. And the fragile elements in the pot tell of life ephemeral.
